Achiever
According to Gallup, Achievers “take immense satisfaction in being busy and productive.” In my experience and according to Gallup’s data, Achiever is one of the most common Strengths to show up from the Gallup Strengths Finder assessment. Achievers are drivers because they enjoy working hard, even at playing hard. They set the pace for the team and expect that others will work just as hard. Achievers create daily, weekly, and annual lists of things they want to accomplish and find great satisfaction in checking things off.
If you know an Achiever, keep them busy or give them the freedom to create their own agenda and direct their own time. Help your Achiever celebrate their successes, reminding them of what they have achieved before they move on to the next task. Recognize their hard work, extra effort and time spent on a project, and then give them something else to accomplish.
If you are an Achiever, remember that activities that nurture your personal relationships can be added to your to do list. Your diligent effort inspires others to be their best. Your ability to work long hours and give extra effort is commendable. If you are a leader, set expectations for your team regarding the amount of hours you expect them to work and expectations regarding responses to your late night or early morning communications. Remember that not everyone has the capacity to work as long or as hard as you, for whatever reason. You are always up for a big audacious goal. Break it down into manageable action steps to help others see your vision and how it can be accomplished. Remind yourself to put your health and wellness on your goal and task list. Start with this everyday, before your busy work day starts.
